The Maryland GenCyber Coalition was created to transform the K-12 cybersecurity education ecosystem across the state. Specifically, the Coalition will impact secondary students in Maryland by increasing their awareness about cybersecurity careers and educational pathways and increasing their cybersecurity content knowledge. Additionally, the Coalition will build capacity among secondary teachers in Maryland to introduce students to cybersecurity and the diversity of cyber careers available by integrating cybersecurity into their classroom curriculum. The diverse group of partners in the Coalition includes four community colleges and two universities. Two partners are minority serving institutions, allowing the Coalition to make a significant impact on populations historically excluded from cybersecurity fields. Designed around mentorship and shared resources, the Coalition will utilize the experience and expertise of the individual partners to amplify the impacts of all six proposed GenCyber programs in 2024-2025.
Members of the Coalition were chosen based on the significant impact they have already made on cybersecurity education within the state’s K-12 community and the potential for these impacts to be amplified within a coalition ‘ecosystem.
